There is a lot of (sometimes confusing!) terminology associated with chains ), but don't be afraid - the roller chain supplier is always here to help you! and share everything you need to know about chain terminology. You may want to bookmark this helpful guide for future quick reference.
There are several key components that make up a standard roller chain.
Roller Link: An internal link consisting of 2 roller link plates, 2 bushings and 2 rollers
Pin Link: External link consisting of 2 Pin Link plates and 2 pins
Spring clamped link: external link consists of 1 press fit plate with 2 pins, 1 removable slide fit plate and 1 spring clamp
Open-end link: The outer link consists of a press-fit plate with 2 pins, a removable slide fit plate and 2 cotter keys
Offset link: The link consists of 2 offset plates, 1 cotter pin with 1 cotter key, 1 bushing and 1 roller (Note: #25 and 35 chains are rollerless chains)
Together, these components form a complete roller chain. Roller chains can be single or multi-stranded and are available in a variety of sizes with different tensile strengths and working loads. Together, tensile strength and chain load rating help buyers determine which chain is right for their unique needs.
Sharp Top Chain
Chain Pitch describes the distance between the center points of the pins on a single Pin Link. The number to the left of the number on the right side of the standard roller chain dimensions indicates the number of ⅛ inches in the pitch. (Example: 40 Riv = 4/8 = ½" pitch)
Heavy duty series chains are different from standard series in terms of plate thickness.
Chain pre-pressure refers to the pre-pressure during the manufacturing process. This is sometimes referred to as pre-stretching.
Minimum Ultimate Tensile Strength is the minimum force at which an unused, undamaged chain may break when subjected to a single tensile load test.
Accessories are adaptations of standard roller chain assemblies that are used to modify the chain for a variety of applications. Accessories are commonly found on pin links, roller links and link links.
Chain elongation is defined as the difference in length of the chain due to wear. During normal operation, the pin is articulated within the bushing. The outside diameter of the pin decreases as the inside diameter of the bushing increases due to wear.

Seamless tubes, this make chains bear much tension than not seamless tube chain
Heat-treatment,much more durable
